What a decade and a half looks like

The Foundation's own dated milestones — the same four lib/impact.js publishes.

  1. 2009

    The call is answered

A handful of volunteers begin in Jayanagar, Bengaluru.

  2. 2015

    Wheels take the work out

Education on Wheels and Health on Wheels carry classrooms and clinics into villages.

  3. 2020

    Relief at national scale

Pandemic and disaster response across states, alongside the standing programmes.

  4. 2024

    Twenty lakh reached

Across education, health and women's programmes, with 9 million trees in the ground.

What the service actually looked like

“The van came to our village every week. My daughter learned to use a computer before I ever saw one — she is the first in our family to finish school.”

“I had put off the check-up for two years because the hospital is a day away. The camp found it early. I am still here because of that morning.”

“The saplings they gave us were the same ones we used to cut for firewood. Now the whole ridge behind the village is green again, and the well hasn't gone dry in three summers.”

The reflection behind the recognition

Founder Braja Kishore Pradhan with the Aahwahan team
“We never set out to build an organisation. We set out to answer a call — and the more people who answered with us, the further that call carried.”
