Education is for all — the slogan a group of like-minded people came together behind, and the reason Aahwahan exists at all.

Free computer centres in schools

From a one-room village school to a district topper — a laptop bank and a mentor changed the arc of my life.
India is an institution in itself, with many forms of education, and has witnessed educational evolution from the gurukul system to the digital system; from Nalanda to the IITs. But did we reach a position where education is in every house, to every nook and corner? Government has taken up many schemes and initiatives to help everyone grow — but is it enough? What is our role as a citizen, and where can we contribute to make it happen, is what we should focus on.
In this world of information technology, some villages have not heard of computers
Poverty, unawareness of its benefits and simple accessibility are what stop a child learning
Formal education has not stepped into our villages at the pace the cities move
Awareness comes first — 51% of every programme begins with an awareness kit

Where a school cannot be reached, the school travels. Where one exists but is failing, it gets rebuilt.
1Education on Wheels
Mobile classrooms equipped with smart boards, audio-visual aids, laboratory facilities, robotic labs and a digital library. A team of dedicated educators travels to remote villages so students have access to quality education at their doorstep. Around 90 students of any age group are taken through a session from a village, six villages weekly, on a four-month rotation.
2Government school adoption
Investing in infrastructure so that a well-equipped school makes children feel proud and motivated, improves their overall learning and lays the road for a better future. Adoption has occurred in over 248 schools so far, in both urban and rural settings.
3Free computer centres inside schools
An extra skill is an extra feather on our wings. Around seven schools have free computer centres inside campus — KC Girls High School, Baidhar ME School and others in the pipeline — with the entire expense, and a computer teacher for each centre, carried by the Foundation.
4Free education for the poor
To bridge the gap between the privileged and the underprivileged, free education is provided for the poor — awareness programmes first, then execution. Around 37 children have their educational care taken by the Foundation up to 10th standard.
5Health teacher — a check on you
A health teacher looks after students' health-related issues and reports daily to a backup team of doctors, and motivates students to take part in daily yoga, games and mental wellbeing. A healthy mind rests in a healthy body — alongside awareness sessions on superstition, still prevalent in remote areas, and health and hygiene at parent-student meets.
