Mangrove plantation
Coastal mangrove planting — a shoreline's buffer against storm surge.
Back to Environment

Overview
Mangrove plantation is coastal work — planting mangroves along shorelines and estuaries where they once grew or have thinned out, to rebuild a natural buffer between the sea and the land behind it. Mangroves are unusual trees, rooted in salt water and tidal mud, and a stretch of them does double duty as physical protection for the coast and as habitat for the creatures that live in and around it.
