Self-help groups & financial literacy
Collectives that run their own savings groups.

Overview
Self-help groups are small collectives of women who pool regular savings and manage the fund themselves, with financial literacy built into how the group operates. Membership is usually drawn from the same neighbourhood or village, so trust and familiarity underpin the group's decisions. It serves women who have had little or no prior access to formal banking, giving them a structured, member-run way to save, borrow small amounts, and understand how credit and interest actually work.
